iRead — Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 20, 2026

iRead is built to keep your data private and on your device.

Data we collect

None. iRead does not collect, transmit, or have access to any personal data. There is no analytics, tracking, advertising, or third-party data collection.

Where your data lives

All your content — texts you add, saved vocabulary, settings, and reading progress — is stored locally on your device. If you are signed into iCloud, it syncs through your own private iCloud account (Apple CloudKit) so it stays available across your devices. This data lives in your private iCloud database and is accessible only to you; the developer cannot see or access it.

Translation and text recognition

Translation uses Apple's on-device Translation framework, and text recognition (OCR) uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. The text you translate or scan is processed on your device and is not sent to the developer or any third party.

Files, camera, and photos

Files you open (PDF, EPUB, text) and any photos or camera input used for scanning or shelf covers are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.

Children's privacy

Because iRead collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
